Empower Yourself: A Self-Checklist to Identify and Resolve Computer Slowness
Here is a self-checklist to help you identify potential causes of slowness on your computer.
Performing a self-check before contacting the support team helps users resolve issues faster, avoid unnecessary support requests, and gain a better understanding of the problem. It improves efficiency by providing relevant information to the support team and increases users’ confidence in their troubleshooting abilities.
1. Check your internet connection speed and stability. ( Wire vs Wireless )

2. Close any unnecessary applications or browser tabs that may be consuming system resources.
There is no specific limit to determine the exact number of browsers that may cause the slowness issue. However, we recommend keeping the number of open browsers below 15, as this should be sufficient. If you have multiple browsers open that you do not frequently use, we suggest closing them to alleviate any potential performance issues.
3. Clear your browser cache and cookies.
To clear the cache in the Google Chrome browser, please follow these steps:
- Open Google Chrome on your computer.
- Click on the three vertical dots in the top-right corner of the browser window.
- From the drop-down menu, hover over “More tools” and then click on “Clear browsing data.”
- In the pop-up window, you will see different time range options for clearing the data. You can choose from “Last hour,” “Last 24 hours,” “Last 7 days,” “Last 4 weeks,” and “All time.” Select the time range you prefer or select “All time” to clear all browsing data.
- Underneath the time range options, there are checkboxes for different types of data you can clear. Make sure the checkbox next to “Cached images and files” is selected.
- If you want to clear other types of data as well, you can select the respective checkboxes.
- Once you have selected the time range and the types of data you want to clear, click on the “Clear data” button.
- The browser will then clear the cache and other selected data. This process may take a few moments.
- Once the process is complete, you can close the settings tab or continue browsing.
Please note that clearing the cache will remove temporary files and data from websites, so you may need to sign in again to certain websites and your browsing history may be cleared.
4. Verify that your operating system and web browser are up to date.
